Consultation and Support

Sometimes things happen that can throw families off course. It might be the death of a loved one, a family separation or some other trauma. If you are worried about how your child is coping, or you have noticed concerning behaviours it can help to seek advice. At Family Matters, I can help you understand what your child is experiencing and arm you with strategies to support your child.

Assessment

Family relationships can be complicated, and sometimes it's hard to even know what the problem is. A psychotherapist can identify the issues and suggest ways to address them. A psychotherapy assessment can give a full picture of a young person's psychological wellbeing - including their emotional and social functioning.

Attachment Therapy

Family relationships are not always easy. Something you don't understand might have hurt your relationship with your child. Perhaps you just know that things are not right. Attachment therapy works on the relationship between parent and child, using talk and play to gain a deeper understanding of each other and make sense of the problem.

Play Therapy

I supplement talk with play to help understand the internal world of your child and get to the root of the problem. This is especially important with children who do not express themselves in words. The goals of therapy can vary from helping children manage changes in their family to recovering from trauma.

Clinicial Supervision

Supervision is an important part of being a clinician. It is an essential part of professional development, ensuring ethical and safe clinical practice. If you work with children and need a clinical supervisor, Family Matters can help.
